Muhammad Khadafi Karim Abdullah

Muhammad Khadafi Karim Abdullah, though people usually call him Khadafi or Dafi, was born and raised in Kalimantan, specifically in the city of Balikpapan, and later decided to move to Makassar, South Sulawesi, to pursue his studies. During his time in the city, he learned a great deal while studying International Relations at Alauddin State Islamic University in Makassar. Throughout his university years, he was involved in various campus and regional organizations. He actively participated in workshops, talk shows, and public discussions, served on organizing committees and as a volunteer, and spent time critically engaging with the social and political conditions of his country, which can sometimes be quite chaotic. In late 2023, he joined Riwanua, an arts and culture collective. Becoming part of the collective took him on a journey of building relationships that are both long-lasting and enduring, much like the connections he has formed with every group he has encountered and been a part of. Working within a collective with limited resources made him realize the importance of mutual support and care among people in his community, protecting nature, and developing greater awareness of contemporary social conditions. Through Riwanua’s artistic and cultural work, he and his fellow members have created numerous archives and initiatives aimed at preserving and advancing the culture of their community. In addition to his work with the collective, he is also active as a freelancer at PT Edupact, an organization operating in the field of education. His time as a student has now come to an end, and he has been awarded his bachelor’s degree. With the network of friends and communities he has built along the way.
